King Valley
The King Valley could be described as a little piece of Italy set amongst the hills of North East Victoria, bustling with wineries, rolling hills, festivals and cooking classes to honour the Italian family traditions of the immigrants who arrived in the height of the tobacco growing era, then turned their crops into award winning wineries when tobacco growing came to an end.

This stunningly picturesque area has a rich history which far outdates todays modern wineries, including ancient Aboriginal occupation, a strong tie with bush rangers including Harry Power and the Kelly Gang, and that of nineteenth century Chinese and twentieth century Italian immigrants.

Many spots along the King River flats, especially at Oxley, had significant camp sites and corroboree grounds for the local Aboriginal peoples, some of whom maintained a semi-traditional lifestyle there as late as mid-1880s.

Today, it is easy to understand why people are constantly falling in love with the King Valley. The King Valley and the Milawa Gourmet Region's climate and topography have cultivated an abundance of passionate producers and the area is a must-do for foodies and wine lovers. The villages dotted throughout the valley each offer individual character and charm, the locals eager to share their stories or help you find that special experience.

The picturesque and bountiful King Valley is located at the foothills of the Alpine National Park, surrounded by mountains, rivers and rolling vineyards. Boasting some of the highest altitude vineyards in Australia, the King Valley is highly regarded for its cool-climate wines and European style varietals. Enjoy the valley views, rivers, lakes and cascading waterfalls and the fast-growing interest in the Prosecco Road experiences.
